Reflection on conscience
Paragraph one: It doesn’t matter whether you are right or wrong, a person conscience doesn’t do anything to help them, and that’s always the way to go. I do not agree with this paraphrased version of what Huck said for some reasons. I don’t agree because if a person has a conscience and they are in a really bad situation then it could help them if they choose the right conscience that is. If a person is in a really bad situation and they choose the wrong conscience then it won’t help you necessarily help the person it would probably make their situation worse. If a person is in a really bad situation and they choose the right conscience then that person will gain from it and feel good about doing the right thing.
Paragraph two: Three examples of how Huck’s conscience influences his decisions are when Huck doesn’t know whether to help Jim escape and become a free slave or not. I agree with this decision because I’m sure he felt good when he helped let a slave free because he did something good. Another example was whether Huck should help the people on the boat when the boat was falling apart. I also agree with his decision because he helped a lot of people and he felt good when he did it. The third example is When Huck told the black slave that he didn’t know Jim when he and Tom tried to save him. I don’t agree with this decision because why would they try to save if they were going to say they don’t know him.
Paragraph three: A time when my conscience helped me was whether I should shovel my neighbor’s snow. I decided to shovel his snow because I thought it was the good thing to do because he was really never at home. I decided to shovel his side walk, driveway and porch. After I got done I felt good inside when I went back to my house. He never said thank you but I think he knew I did it for him. I thought I would get paid money for doing it but after I did it, I didn’t really care anymore.
